Madonna has revealed she wanted to collaborate with Adele at this year’s Superbowl, but was unable to because of the British singer’s throat operation.
“I wanted her to be in the Super Bowl with me” she told ITV’s Daybreak. “But I think she was having her throat problem or throat operation or something.” Asked if she would like to work with Adele in the future, she replied: “Yes, I would love to. I would love to meet her, I think she’s brilliant, I love her.”
Time has revealed its 9th annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world!
Celebs making the cut include Adele, Jessica Chastain, Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Chelsea Handler, Rihanna, Tilda Swinton, and Kristen Wiig.
The mag also highlighted Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, her younger sister, Pippa Middleton, President Barack Obama and athletes Novak Djokovic, Tim Tebow, and Jeremy Lin.
Adele shows off her piercing green eyes on the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s music issue, on newsstands Friday (April 6).
“When everybody heard the record, they knew it was special,” Rob Stringer, chairman and CEO of Columbia Records, told the mag about the 23-year-old singer’s smash album21.“But not one person could honestly tell you they thought it would sell this many.”
Also featured in the issue is EW‘s “30 Greatest Artists Right Now” list. Adele tops the list at number one, followed by Taylor Swift, Drake, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Jack White, The Black Keys, Nicki Minaj, Mumford & Sons, and Rihanna rounding out the top ten.
Adele has told a French radio station she will have a new single out by the end of the year, but her next album will take “a good two years” to record. The news will fuel speculation that the artist will record the theme tune to the latest Bond movie, Skyfall.
She has been the bookmakers’ favourite since last year, but no official announcement has been made. Speaking to France’s NRJ, the singer added she needed to find time to write the follow-up to her hit record, 21.
“If I didn’t write my own songs, I’d be out next week with a new album,” she said. “I have to take time and live a little bit. There were a good two years between my first and second albums, so it’ll be the same this time.” Adele added that she was not worried about recreating the success of 21, which has now sold more than 20 million copies around the world.
“I don’t think I’ll feel the pressure for the next album to be as big as the last one because I know that’s not really possible,” she said. “What’s happened with this album is very rare anyway.”
She said her ideal duet partner would be the late Etta James but she would also like to sing with Beyonce. “I adore Beyonce, I’ve been listening to her since I was about 11,” she told NRJ. “I think her work as an artist and a singer is enviable in terms of the length of her career and how she’s grown and grown but most of my inspirations are (from) old music and sadly they have all died.”
Adele’s second 21 recently overtook Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon in the list of best-selling UK albums.
The LP has now sold more than 4,142,000 copies in the singer’s home country, making it the seventh biggest-selling album of all-time. The singer from north London has enjoyed a stellar year with two Brit awards and six Grammy awards to her name.
Adele’s “21″ album is going to celebrate its first year on the Billboard 200 chart in grand style. Fresh off her six Grammy Award wins on Sunday (Feb. 12) night, “21″ is on course to sell between 500,000 to 600,000 copies by week’s end on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Adele’s ’21′ Hits 20th Week at No. 1, Van Halen at No. 2
Next week will mark the set’s 52nd week on the list and it should easily rack up a 21st frame at No. 1. It could earn the biggest sales week for any album since Drake’s “Take Care” debuted with 631,000 on the chart dated Dec. 3, 2011 according to Nielsen SoundScan. Even better – it will be “21′s” biggest sales week, period. It’s highest week came over the Christmas holiday, when it shifted 399,000. …Read More
After her triumphant, record-breaking year, Adele faced surgery—and silence. With her voice back, she opens up to Jonathan Van Meter about fame, family, and what the future holds. Every singer knows the List: citrus, vinegar, mint, dairy, spicy or fried foods, fizzy drinks, caffeine, cigarettes, and alcohol. These are the vocal cords’ enemies. And when one has a five-octave contralto as dynamic, award-winning, moneymaking, and record-breaking as Adele Laurie Blue Adkins does, one figures out how to avoid these things. Some require less effort than others. Mint? Vinegar? Feh. Cigarettes? Not so easy. Over the few days that I spend around Adele, I see her sneak a fag here and there. No one is perfect. But alcohol? For a once hard-drinking South London pub girl who has admitted that she has written some of her best songs after a few belts, I would have thought this might present something of a challenge. Not so much, it turns out. Adele hasn’t had a drink since last June. She gave it up cold turkey right around her birthday (May 5) last year. “Don’t like drinking anymore,” she says in an accent that falls somewhere between Eliza Doolittle and David Beckham. “I think I got it out of my system. D’yaknowhaImean?”
